FortiFlora prints one organism and a 100-million CFU guarantee; Proviable-Forte prints seven and a combined 10-billion CFU guarantee. The label gap is large, but it isn't automatically a measure of which dog does better -- FortiFlora's strain has canine trials using doses in that same range with mostly small or mixed results, and the one canine trial linked to Proviable-Forte used it combined with a separate synbiotic, not the plain Forte capsule alone. Below is what each label states, side by side.
Not veterinary advice. Each claim above is backed by the label row or study linked in the full table below.
Stronger value rule: more strain-named organisms, CFU guaranteed through expiry over at-manufacture, and more canine RCTs each count as stronger. Raw CFU count alone never does.
Tagged from public posts mentioning either product. Counts, not opinions.
Neither label prohibits it and the organisms don't obviously conflict, but we found no study of combining them. Giving one at a time makes it easier to tell what, if anything, changed.
Not by itself. FortiFlora's canine trials used doses in the hundred-million range and measured effects at that dose for that one strain; a higher CFU count for a different blend doesn't transfer evidence between products.
FortiFlora Canine is a dog-only SKU (Purina sells a separate FortiFlora Feline powder with the same strain). The Proviable-Forte Sprinkle Capsules we reviewed are labeled for dogs; Nutramax sells other Proviable SKUs for both species, so check the specific product page rather than assuming.
