Enterococcus faecium is a lactic-acid bacterium commonly used in dog probiotic blends, and on these labels it's listed without a specific registered strain code. A small 2025 pilot study in 11 dogs with diarrhea found no adverse events, clinical improvement in 8 of 11 dogs, and higher fecal microbial diversity in most long-term participants — though it had no placebo group for comparison. It turns up in seven products here, including formulas from Zesty Paws, Native Pet, Vital Planet, Pet Honesty, and Vet's Best.
PubMed and PMC, dogs only. Other species are listed separately below and don't count toward the badge.
We don't have a confirmed CFU-per-kg dose number for Enterococcus faecium from the canine trials yet -- so this calculator is intentionally disabled rather than guessing.
Not necessarily. The study used a particular strain in a small pilot trial, and a product that prints just the species name without a strain code hasn't demonstrated it's using that same strain.
Our fact-pack doesn't record a specific studied dose for this listing.
It's a small, uncontrolled pilot — 11 dogs, no placebo group — so it's suggestive rather than definitive.
